A Family Quilt

This is a quilt. Not made from only names and dates and places, but made from every piece of fabric and every thread that binds us together as a family. The material is centuries old, made of uniforms worn by each member of both sides of my family - the Shanes and the Becks. Made of the clothes worn by our pioneers as they made their way west into the Midlands of these United States, settling in Illinois. They built churches, schools and communities, watched their children and grandchildren grow. Woven into these blocks are the allied families of Pages, Jones, Neals, Trowbridges, Nelsons, Brunettes, LaBelles and so many more.
